Product Introduction
Biaxial geogrid is also written as Double-direction geogrid. Biaxial geogrid is made of high molecular polymer through extrusion, forming and punching before longitudinal and lateral stretching. This material has considerable tensile strength in longitudinal and lateral directions. This chain structure can effectively bear and diffuse forces on soil and is applicable to large area permanent load bearing foundation as a reinforce.
It is a grid-like structure made from PP, polyethylene (HDPE) or other polymers that are extruded into a rigid, interconnected grid pattern with consistent apertures. The geogrid is characterized by having two primary sets of tensile ribs or strands, running in both the machine direction (MD) and cross-machine direction (CMD), giving it the term "biaxial."
Product Features
1. Increase the bearing capacity of the roadbed and foundation and prolong their service life.
2. Prevent road surface and foundation from sinking or flawing, keep clean and beautiful ground surface.
3. Convenient construction saves time and labor, reduce mounting time and decrease maintenance expense.
4. Prevent culverts from flawing.
5. Enhance earth slope and prevent water loss and soil erosion.
6. Decrease underlayer thickness and save manufacturing cost.
7. Enhance the stability of side slope turf net patch to improve greening.
8. Replace wire netting used in mine as intermediate ceiling netting.
9. PP biaxial geogrids are resistant to chemicals, ultraviolet (UV) exposure, and biological degradation.
10. Lightweight and easy to handle, which simplifies transportation and installation processes.
Product Application
Biaxial PP geogrid is mainly used to reinforce and stabilize soils and other construction materials, enhancing their load-bearing capacity and overall performance. This is achieved through its unique mechanical properties and structural design.
When incorporated into soil or aggregate layers, biaxial geogrids effectively distribute applied loads by interlocking with the particles, preventing lateral movement and improving the overall stability of the soil mass. This reinforcement minimizes settlement and lateral spreading, making it an ideal solution for applications such as road and railway construction, retaining walls, embankments, slopes, and landfills.
Installation of PP Biaxial Geogrid
The geogrid is typically unrolled and placed in the desired location, secured with anchors or soil backfill, and then covered with additional layers of soil or other materials. The integration of the geogrid within the construction layers significantly improves the load distribution and reduces the need for thicker, more expensive fill materials.
